I'm looking to replace a set of swiss cheese header on my 68 manual convertible. I was think of going with the ceramic coated dynomax cyclones or the ceramic coated hedman headers. Is one better quality than the other? Better fit? Thanks in advance.

I like the way my Hedmans fit my 68, but they are 1-3/4 tubes and I do not have a convertible. or a manual trans (TH350).

the Dynomax headers should fit nicely and clear eveything- and they are probably a bit cheaper, as well. i liked the set i had until the coating started to peel and i bent the driver's side header.

The Dynomax headers are a good deal. Mine bolted in with no denting required. The coating is not the best but you get what you pay for.
I wound up pulling the Dynomax headers for a set of shorty Headman's because my car is lowered. I had to dent the Headman headers and got them uncoated so I could dent them, and then send them out to get coated by Jet Hot.

I have Heddman 1 5/8 in my 69Z28 with a 350 4speed, and manual steering. Mine fit like a glove, and seal very well. the coating is holding good also, however they discolor if you break the motor in with them on. Good Luck

How much runtime should a new engine have before it is safe (no discoloration) to install the ceramic coated headers?

BASSCAT,
I would think anytime AFTER the initial breakin period. If I'm not mistaken, you need to cycle the heat, break in the coating a little at a time, heat a little, cool a little, you get the drift. You can't do that when your breaking in a new FT cam .
