Getting ready to weld the jl8 flanges onto my rear end.

I clocked the calipers facing forward on drivers side and facing rearwards passenger side.

I notice that the bleeders are on the bottom and they should be on top and the jl8 brake lines inlet fitting are made to come in from the bottom

I purchased 2 right side calipers , should i have purchased 2 left side calipers.

thanks

As I recall, the jl8 calipers weren't clocked to the front OR to the rear, they were pretty much straight up at the top. Do a search and look for some pictures - I know there are some on this site somewhere.

They were straight up and I have always wondered why. Maybe the bleeders were on top at that angle.

my calipers are on top clocked 20 degrees, they appear straight( like original).

if caliper was straight it would be impossible to bleed the air.

Some one posted a picture a month or so ago. They looked almost straight up on top, maybe just slightly off a vertical centerline.

Here are a few pictures that may help.

thanks for all the great responses,

i returned my calipers to the auto parts store for another set of right side and the bleeders are in the correct location,

auto parts store supplier made the mistake , they were labelled as right side but in fact they were left sides

I'm a little confused here. Didn't GM install these this way so they would clear the staggered shocks, didn't they use a left and a right caliper?

That's what I was thinking. But since it's basically Corvette stuff, maybe they used 2 identical calipers?

No, GM used right calipers on both sides; the reason is they use two right-hand adaptors taken from the Corvette to gain clearance by allowing the caliper mounting positions to be staggered oppositely in relationship to the staggered shock mounting positions.

Is the corvette front bracket and the jl8 bracket the same?

No, they look the same but the JL8 front bracket is smaller.

At that price they should push the pedal for you, and then some.
