I have a 2000 z28. I am wanting to make the exhaust loud as hell! I have a flowmaster muffler on. A friend was going to clean out my cat. conv. but noticed I have O2 sensors infront and behind the conv. Is there anyway to bypass this? Or is there any other way to boost the volume of my exhaust and not break the bank? I am new to cars. This is the first nice car I have ever had so I am excited to increase its performance.

Don't wreck a good thing, you have a nice car, don't start hacking it up!! You have to spend big money on new wiring to take your modern mill off the computer. To remove smog, cats and o2 sensors you have to get the car off the computer... You can make the exhaust loud without killing the cats. If you don't do the removal properly or just gut them you'll end up with a junker at least in the performance dept and you'll never get past the error messages on the dash!! They make chambered exhaust, headers and many cat back systems for your engine.

Why do you want your car loud as hell? You'll be pulled over by every cop you pass. Just put on the chambered exhaust or the SLP Loudmouth exhaust and it will sound fine. If you want loud, sell your LS1 car and get and LT1 with the Loudmouth. That's obnoxious.

Better check with local/state emission laws also. Removing, altering or bypasing a converter could also be costly in the form of a ticket!

One thing I love about 1st gens is the lack of restriction on emissions. However, they serve the purpose and a computer controlled car can perform. 2000 huh? I wouldn't do it if I were you unless you plan to make it strip only car.

BTW: There's nothing sweeter than a good sounding chambered muffler. Nice, low subsonic rumble that will make plenty of noise at WOT. If you engine is a MAF type, it will respond nicely to upgrades that improve VE (Volumetric Efficiency) like mufflers, K&N, cold air induction, etc. Of course it gets more expensive from there with larger throttle bodies, head improvements, cams and intake.
