I want to put a fiberglass cowl hood on my 72 camaro. I want a bolt on hood with a 4" or 6" cowl scoop. I have champagne taste and a beer budget so I am looking for a reasonably priced hood. Any recomendations on who to get it from? Any horror stories on what hoods to stay away from?

a few people that i know that have glass hoods are not that happy with them they don't fit that well, high on one side low on the other, spacing is uneven on the sides as well as the front and back. they now have steel cowl hoods on the market that are a lot better for about the same $ think they are less than glass. look in hot rod, super chevy, chevy high performance they all have ads for that stuff.

We are not supposed to mention company names. My experince with Un******* Prod**** has been terrible, you get what you pay for from them. Excellent luck with Harwood, they are the best fitting and have a smooth finish right out fo the box. Just my .02 cents. Good luck with your hunt. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

you know, i have the opposite experience from what gearhead67 had. the "h-wood", trunk lid that i bought, i do not like. infact, i'm thinking about getting another brand. the "un-prod", fiberglass hood i have, fits great, infact, this is the second car i've had it on. vfn is a good fiberglass company. you might check out there site.
but i guess, it all depends on the quality of work being done by the person making the product, on that day. i guess that person had a bad hangover on the day they made my trunk lid.
later,

bruce69, Bummer! I ordered a trunk lid/spoiler one piece deal through UP and it looked poopy too. I find it interesting that 2 different companies dropped the ball on the same body part. The one that I ordered should not have made it past quality contol but I guess they ship it out still in the drying state.

I agree with gearhed67. There is no better hood than the Harwood. I've tried numerous others and they were all junk. The Harwood uses stock hinges and actually fits good. If you don't spend the extra $ you will be sorry. I used the factory latch on the front with dzues fasteners on the front corners. The corners start to fold at speeds over 100 if you dont pin them with something. I have photos if you wish.
