I am thinking ablut buying a 68 that has a 383 stroker with Brodix heads. The current owner is running staight exhaust out of the hooker headers. What exhaust system would I need to install? Do you think the engine may have any damage from the stright exhaust? The engine is new with less than 1000 miles on the engine. Thanks

Clint, whatever kind of exhaust you want depends on your sound preference and budget.

A lot of folks like Flowmaster systems, etc. However, I had my '68 (with open headers) taken down to the local muffler shop and had them put on a plain old 2-1/2" dual exhaust, using "generic" turbo mufflers. It was cheap and sounds great. Not quite as loud as Flowmasters, either. Now it's 5 years old and the aluminized pipes still look OK.

The engine is probably OK though I think the fear is that it could run lean. Pull the plugs and make sure they are light gray/tan and it's OK. (Though there's probably a lot of spark plug gurus out there who have better knowledge of this.) Good luck.
