graemlins/clonk.gif I have been hearing a lot of talk about BSE & was wondering what BSE is.I take it that it's a engine builder, but I wanted to know what made them so much better than other builders & what is BSE's specs on things.

I'm just curious about this & would like to learn a little more about them.I have heard a lot of good talk about BSE & wondered where BSE came from all of a sudden, being that I never heard of them up to a week ago.

Everything sure does sound good.

racer1320 from over at Team Chevelle came up with the term for his great midrange torque producing engine that has put his porky Chevelle in the mid 10's!

It is Ed "Begley's Special Engine", aka, BSE!

Ed is a controversial guy that no longer chimes in b/c of all the B/S that went along with it.

He advocates closed chambered big valve oval port heads and midrange cams used for producing a lotta torque in the midrange and upper midrange to move the heavier Chevelles.

Ed's combination is hear or at least one of his b/c he is always tweeking it for more power and the same with his car, for more traction.

Do a search if you want to come up to speed both here and over at Team Chevelle.

Oh, by the way, I am a fan b/c I built my great big "tow-truck", 496 engine like his but a lot milder!!! Like 551hp at 5500rpm and 579t at 34500rpm sorta thing. At least per D2K...

Nevermind,I already know who your talking about & yes he is very controversal.

What really makes a statement is a small block that that will get a Chevelle going as quick or quicker than the 10,50s in the 1/4 mile.

A big block weighs approximately 200 lbs less than a big block,so would it be fair to say that a 3700 lb car with a sbc that would click of 10.70s would be as fast as "Ed's" car.

I have seen this done by a few poeple but all that is a differant story & I would rather just leave it at that, cause I know Ed loves to talk more than race.

BSE,never woulda thought of that.LOL
