I have a 69 rolling body that I am considering putting a BBC in. It is a X77 code body, so that tells me it was a SBC car.
What needs to be changed to make a BBC? I know you need new mounts, rad, shroud, heater box(highly suggested), bigger fuel line are among the required items.
What about the front cross member? Do you have to change that? Are there any issues with the damper hitting the cross member like on a 'Vette?
If there is thread on this, could please direct me to the right location?
Thanks, Lee

Somewhere there is a write-up detailing a complete SB to BB conversion but I forget where. I think maybe yearOne or another supplier company or one of the mag's wrote it several years ago. Anybody save it for him???
Anyway, the information is all here if you want to do a search.
You don't have to change the subframe but rather get the correct year and motor metal frame and rubber motor mounts and the BB will drop right in!
Heck, it will drop right in using the SB stuff too but won't be located correctly and header fitment can be a problem!!!
You do have to move the tranny end over like 3/4" to 1" too so the best way to do that is to use a poly tranny mount with the center bolt plate and move the plate over the needed amount. I still have to do this to my car..
Don't forget the BB Z-bar if you go stick too...

Do a search on here under "big block", and there is a ton of information on the conversion. I'm doing one on my 69, which is a former 6-banger.
If your car was a V8, the fuel line will be okay (it's 3/8" already), and you'll just have to decide if you want the return line to be "correct" for the 325 and 350 HP cars (375 HP cars had only the single supply line). Because my car carries a 6-cyl VIN, I've decided my clone won't be all that "accurate".
The only place the dampner may be an issue is on the front sway bar. Supposedly some of the aftermarket bars will rub the dampner. I haven't gotten mine reassembled yet, so I cannot verify.

All, thanks for the info. I am not worried about being correct as this car, while it is an X-77 code car, is only a body and has too much body work to ever be considered more than a cruiser. So I might as well build it to my liking.

I had no clearance issues with the damper. I am using an 8" damper with the stock sway bar. I am even using the 5/16 fuel line and don't seem to have any fuel delivery problems.
best of luck on the conversion I love the having the big block in my car

X77 car=Z/28. Seen some "project" X33's and X77's fetch high $$ on epay.

You'll have to change front springs as well. The additional weight will significantly lower your front end. A bigger radiator (Be Cool) is also necessary. A transmission cooler is recommended.
