LOL!! what about the chrome exhaust tip? No, seriously though you put on a dynamometer, or "dyno". if the engine is completely out of the car, it will take about a half hour to hook everything up. they start the motor and the computer tells you the horsepower, troque in ft/lbs, ect. Since you dont know how to test horsepower, you probably also dont know that horsepower changes. Yes, its true. At different RPM's(revolutions per minute) the horsepower fluctuates along with the torque. Another way if the motor is in the car they put it on a different dyno that spins the rear tires, or wait!!!!! FRONT TIRES of your car and then can give the computer a reading of your stats. If you have been in the game for years like most of us, you can pretty much estimate how much horsepower you will get when you are rebuilding.

One inexpensive way to figure out the approximate horsepower of your engine is to either buy a copy of Mr. Gasket/Motion Dyno2000 engine simulation program and enter all the needed imputs or maybe somebody here would run a simulation on their copy if you can furnish the imputs...

I don't have my copy loaded up b/c my machine is kinda er, "f--, messed up" or I would be glad to do it for you.

Guy's, any takers to help him out??? pdq67
