: Lowering Camaro with headers

hey guys.

I want to lower my 69' camaro. It has some headers on it that are already a little dinged up at stock ride height. I've very concerned if I lower it 2 inches or so that the headers will scrape like hell.

Does anybody have any Lowered first gens with headers?

Some headers hang a little lower, I have Dougs 368 headers, no problem car is
lowered 2 inches. I think other post have said hooker headers are longer and hang
low. There are a lot of posts on this, check them out. There are som with pics.

I've lowered my 69 about 2 1/2 and I have the Hooker Headers. The 3 bolt flang drags, I have only drug the tubes once. You will have to be very careful, make sure you cross any trouble spots at an agnle whenever possible.

Same here. I have Hooker Super Comps and the driver's side flange hangs pretty low (about 3" ground clearance). It's fine if you're careful, but forget about going over speed bumps.

You probably won't really know until you lower the car. I'd expect some scraping. My car sits pretty low. I bought headers made for first gens with clearence ground issues. I realize you already have headers but you may have to change them if you lower the car. I bought headers from Sandersons, but there are others making them. My car is pretty nose heavy with the blown big block but I've never had an issue with even a slight scrape. They are not full length headers but more of a shorty type header. Not real short like a street rod shorty header. The collectors on my headers sit up above the subframe and oil pan so I'd have some major issues if they made contact. The headers would be the least of my problems . . LOL.

My car sits at about 8" from the rocker panel to ground. I had Thorley TriY headers, they seem to tuck up closer to the floor well, these should work well with a slammed car. My D368 hang down a little but still have a good 3-4" clearance.

If you want ground clearance with a lowered car, forget about my old Super Comps or my new MT reproduction Super Scavengers! Here's the new MT's;

I have the Hooker Super Comps on my 67 and am fairly low with no issues, then again I try to avoid speed bumps as much as possible, the only thing that will drag a little is the flange.

So, my headers hang down pretty low, the car has a 2" drop in the front. I have put 10,000 mile on with tons of scrapping, knowing someday I would replace the headers for ones with better ground clearance.
Yes it scrapes, but my ground clearance keeps increasing...
