heres the deal, I'll try and keep it short and to the point.

I went to my parents house the other day, my moms takes out all of these 2 dollar bills and said "what should I do with these?" .. I said "spend them, what good are they in an envelope some of them are 1995 series too" , Anyways as I was flipping threw the bills I noticed one was written on and had a girls name with a birth date on it First middle and last name and then its said "Given on" and it had a date 5 days later from the birthday of the child. So apparently this bill was given to the youngster when she was only 5 days old.

So, I thought it would be cool if I can find this person and give this bill back because Im sure the parents spent it. Well I found her on facebook, I hardly use that site but I log in every now and then and really have no clue what to do except respond to friend comments. I typed a big o'l paragraph on pretty much what I told you guys here and she respond with , yeah thats my bday. so Im like ............Ugggh would you like to have it back?

anyways I did the math and she is 16 I think .. I feel like a perv or something, Im only trying to give this bill back ... I did tell her to tell her parents if someone had given her a 2 dollar bill when she was 5. I'd rather give it to her parents but then again I think they are the ones who spent it in the first place thats how I have it now. What would you do ??.. It doesn't seem like its important to her from the 3 comments we said back and forth to each other... would you still try to get it back to her or spend it and go have a coke and smoke with it?

I would love to have things from my youth but thats just me .. maybe thats why Im trying to do this for this person. Maybe im strange for thinking like this.

She's probably too young to know what sentiment is about. Kids that age think of money as a way of getting stuff.

put half a gallon of gas in the camaro and think about her when you are roasting the tires;)

seriously, spend it.

I'd ask for her parents address and send the $2 bill to her with a nice note wishing her the best. It's only $2 and the price of a stamp. Nothing perverted about that.
Then, you'll have dione your good deed. Maybe her parents were poor and had no choice but to spend the $2 bill.
That's what I'd do.
If she's hesitant to give out her information, I'd just drop the issue and spend the money or give it to someone who needs it.

There is a traveling outfit in town that is buying gold coins, silver certifictates and 2 dollar bills. I would sell the $2 bills to them for $3.

Girls these days are superficial.
I can understand not giving out an address or the age difference, but i'd be pretty open minded.
Tell her parents to put it in her college fund, it's EXPENSIVE.
If all else fails... buy something with it.

Judging by her response, she probably is not interested and would probably just spend it as soon as she got it.

it's great that you tried to reconnect it with the original person though, even if they don't care.

LMAO! hey either that or she was the culprit that just now spent it! maybe they gave it to her for her Quincenera or something!! LOL

As far as me moving back.. dang the Border Patrol hiring process is taking longer than I thought! hell my wife already moved down there in Decemeber! She's staying with my mom in McAllen till I get my marching orders. It's looking like another few weeks before they get done with my background check (hopefully)

Tough call on the $2 if she were older it might be nice to get it back to her. Doesn't sound like her or her parents care much about it at this point. Good chance they spent the money at one of your parents garage sales, lol. It was a very nice gesture to offer to get the bill back to her, but if she is just going to spend it, you can do that yourself. She probably doesn't know who gave it to her to begin with.

Hey I have agreat idea, I will put my name and b-day on all the $ I spend and maybe it will all get returned to me. Why didn't I think of this before? I will be able to retire sooner than planned and just spend the same money over and over. Just kidding, you are doing the right thing, I would want to talk to her parents about it, maybe she spent it and they didn't know it. If they would be willing to keep it for her until she is older that would be good.

Here is something you all are missing. When I was a kid (OK a long time ago) my grandmother worked at a high school. When she got silver dollars (yes they were common 50 years ago) she gave them to her grandkids. They in turn were deposited into the bank by my parents. I remember asking my folks later on where were my silver dollars? Maybe that $2 was deposited in the bank and not spent.

Hey Robert is your friend a Sup at Ft Brown Station? That's where I'll be working from. I'm getting hired as a Mechanic not a Border Patrol Agent.
