Unfortunately my source for an original "309" deep-recess M/C may not be able to help me after all. I have found a nice-looking 309-marked repro but it says specifically that it has a shallow recess. Another source told me that a shallow can be converted to deep. But I seem to remember the deep recess having a longer "snout" while the shallow was more flat. Am I right about that? Or can a shallow actually be converted to a deep-recess?

I have found another nice-looking 309-marked repro that says it has a deep recess. But it costs almost as much as an original, and about 3 times as much as the other "shallow" repro. That's why I was wondering if one could be converted.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure there is no difference in the casting of the 309. Deep or shallow should just be in the internals.

Give these guys a call - I've had them redo a booster and a few master cylinders.

Check out Camaro Specialties in Upstate New York. I just picked one up from them. Has the "US" stamp too.

Thanks guys, Sorry for the delay, I just noticed your replies. My M/C guy came through for me. Now I have to decide whether to refinish the booster, or not.
