My car is an early (Oct 68) car and should have chambered exhaust. I'm wondering how loud is chambered exhaust? Does anyone here have a stainless steel system and where did you purchase it?

I heard a Z with chambered exhaust....
Loud but not obnixious...

Just curious...is it a Norwood or Van Nuys car?

We had a '69 L-78 Camaro with chambered exhaust, and we presently have a '69 Yenko Camaro with the chmabered exhaust. These cars sound absolutely AWESOME! It doesn't sound any louder than your typical performance exhaust, but it's sound is all together "different". I don't think you will be disappointed by the sound. you might try looking in Hemmings motor news, as there are always ads for chambered exhaust in there, along with everything else! www.hemmings.com (http://www.hemmings.com) Good luck!

I am considering this system for my 69 Z. You can get a flowmaster system with the new Deltaflow muffs and factory looking(?) polished tailpipes from Summit for around $330. But Year one has complete chambered systems, with the special hangers for $675 aluminized, or $945 for stainless. I believe Ricks has two different chambered systems. One is supposedly concours correct while the other is close bur cheaper. I have a standard transverse muff on my car now and I hate it. I am assuming it is very restrictive and is not very authoritative sounding, so I am changing systems and thought I would pass on what I have gathered so far. I wish someone would post a sound clip of a chambered car pulling a hole shot. This might help us decide.

I had a Stainless Chambered system and it sounded very Tinny. I have 2 orig. systems that sound good. The stainless systems tend to expand more, I was told the grow up to an inch in length when they warm up. It's hard enough to keep exhaust from rattling as it is. I would try the aluminized.
