Is anyone running a Dana 60 rearend in their '67-'69 Camaro? How do you like it? What ratio and size engine are you running? I just picked up a Dana 60 and am going to have it narrowed a bit to put in my '68. The ratio is 3.73 and it's a limited slip diff.

A friend of mine had one in his 68. He had to take it out because either the yoke on the rearend or the back of the driveshaft hit his trans tunnel. Granted the car was lowered about 2" and it only did it with two people in the car. It was nothing that a big hammer could not have cured. If the rearend needs to be narrowed it might not be worth hassle and expense. Good luck.

Steve R > My car is a big project right now. I bought it missing the engine and trans. The 12 bolt was robbed from it long ago. It has a 72 Nova 8.5 10 bolt 2.73 ratio rear under it now. I have next to nothing invested into this Dana 60. I want a stout rear under it. I will run a 427c.i. around 400hp. conservative. I'm seriously considering a Vortech blower for it. I may also run my 250hp. NOS Cheater system on it. I figure I'll be really happy making just under 1000hp. I figure the 3.73 is a good ratio and the limited slip will be needed. I realize it will cost to have it narrowed and I'll have new axles made. It's gotta be alot cheaper and stronger than a 12 bolt. I'm not really worried about originality in that department. The only ones to see it that close will be unlucky jackrabbits. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on the tunnel.

I found out that Moser Engineering will narrow the housing for $65 and respline the axles for $85 and redrill the axles and brakedrums for $30. It sounds too cheap to be true. http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif I think this car will be bulletproof yet! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Dont even mess with anything else,go to moser, thats the best deal around, and quick turnaround!!they do a really nice job,and it all fits..........shipping is the only problem. You also will have to change the yoke,if you want to use the Chev driveshaft

I have had work done by Moser before and I have been very happy.
Oh Ya I run a ford 9 inch But I prefer the look of a dana hanging under a gas tank. Sounds like you have a great plan.

The Dana 60 is a very strong rear end, but the differential gears in the limited slip are a weak point. They are not much stronger than those in a 12 bolt. If you put a Detroit Locker in it you should have no problems. Moser is very close on their prices. I charge $60 to narrow a housing and I have another guy respline axles for me. He charges $85 a set. The Dana is impressive looking under a Camaro. Is the one you bought out of a Mopar car? If it is it is worth too much to cut up. Get one out of a truck. One problem with the Dana is the housing can get chewed up on the left side when the differential bearing spins in the bore. This happens often so check it out before you put much money in it.

I agree with big gear head if it is out of a Mopar car do not cut it up you can buy something else already done for what a restorer will pay for the rear end. I ran one in a bracket car for years had no problems but I had the 6 pinion posi out of a Hemi car in it. People have been known to break the 4 pinion posi.
