What's the trick to installing these long screws? I never really looked for a screw hole before I installed the wing windows. I'm assuming my vent window frames have the holes in them. I'm talking about the stainless, maybe 3" long screws that install from the inside of the car. Thanks!

Gary those screws go though a hole in the vent window frame and into a tab on the outer door skin. That screw pulls the outer door skin in toward the inter door putting some clamping pressure on the vent frame. If it is a reassembly of the door it can be hard to line up those three holes with that 3" screw.

If you go to HD or Lowe's be sure you get the stainless screws.

Lowes has them in SS. The ones Rick's sell are incorrect diameter (too small) so I used Lowes, they were almost exact as my old rusted originals.

Thanks guys. I already have the screws. They just don't want to thread into anything. Maybe I have new doorskins and the holes aren't there and have to be drilled. Are they really necessary?

Gary if your new door skins are like mine you will need to drill the hole in that tab. These screws add a lot of support to the rear part of the vent frame. Remember the door window front stop is on that vent window frame and it needs to be solid. It is not a bad job drilling the holes if you can find a long bit.
