Hey guys, I figuerd this would be the best place to ask this question since I am striking out everywhere else. I am looking for an old style metal cabinet for my shop. I want to keep all my paint and aerosols in one place and away from the sparks of grinding and welding. I made the wall space already but now cannot find one of these things anywhere. My buddy has two that he wont part with and they are from Champion sparkplugs, they are a bit rusty but those things hold a lot, 3 shelves and 4 more shelves in the doors and they even lock. The closest I have found are these NAPA cabinets on craigslist but they are all the way in CT:

I dont really have a preference on what "brand" or color the thing is i can always DA it down and re spray it. but the problem is finding one. so if anyone has an suggestions where i can find one or even better if someone in NY is selling one then let me know. thanks guys

If you want an approved flammable safety cabinet, they're $600 new.

I bought used paint cab on C.list. Not a common find but possible. As Joe said they are expensive. Regular cabinets offer little or no protection. And yes, I bought mine in CT. Keep hunting for they don't last.

I had friends use an old refrigerator, as paint cabinets, with a vent tube thru the back
out the wall.

That's a darn good idea.
:)
Even just a dorm room sized fridge would work. Just leave room for the beer.

Our local Habitat for Humanity has a 'retail store' that people donate building and home materials to. Things like kitchen cabinets or windows etc. that someone else might need for a remodel of their own. I once saw a large trailer of old white steel kitchen cabinets, lowers and uppers being loaded up. Wish I had been there to grab those for my garages.
Check with local Habitat office. ;)

How about these? http://southjersey.craigslist.org/hsh/1602729731.html or these http://newjersey.craigslist.org/zip/1596096410.html or these http://longisland.craigslist.org/fuo/1590313919.html
I use craiglook.com when searching craigslist, works well!
I have my paints in a 4 drawer filing cabinet.

Right where Joe directed you. Northern Tool. They'll ship anywhere for reasonable cost although we have them local and get free site to store shipping.
36wx30hx12deep metal wall cabinet, $130. They come in several different colors. Put some STP stickers on it, dip your hands in oil and grab it a few times, and beat the crap out of it with a hammer. Voila. The vintage look.

Or just search "wall cabinet" on their site and there are lots more options. I have this one and it's on sale for $65 right now although at 8" deep I don't know if it would hold a gallon paint can. Maybe.
