: PCV, No Baffles

Finally got everything hooked up, brake booster to rear intake just below
carb and PCv to fitting in front of carb. Hears my question, concern:
I have a stud girdle so valve cover has no baffle at PCV Valve. Will
PCV put much oil in carb, intake. Maybe effect plugs?

Probably. Morosso makes a rubber push-in baffle that will fit most any valve train.

Bob you gotta look into my threads in performance about PCV or Brodix Heads, its long but some good info on this topic. DjD hooked me up with some very nice Billet Baffles and PCV Valve. You can run the breathers/PCV in different locations if needed, but make sure you are not sucking oil threw the PCV because it will show on the plugs and run crappy at idle.

Skeeter do you have a part number or a link to those billet baffles Dennis recommended ?
I am sucking oil thru my pcv and into my intake. I get a puff of smoke when I start her up so I must be burning some.

That is a nice looking baffle and not at all pricey.
Do you have one ? I'm wondering what diameter hole it fits into.

I find that you really do not require a Baffle on the Drivers Valve Cover below the PCV Valve when you run a Girdle as the Girdle being close to the Top of the Valve Cover acts like a Baffle. I use an above Cover Baffle (Dodge Type) on the PSGR Valve Cover and Vent it into the Base of the Air Breather.

Does it matter if PCV Valve is on passenger side. My is set up that way.
What I'm doing is getting a PCV/Breather to put on but think breather
is not baffled (if baffled means having the holes on bottom of breather).
It does have a washable filter in it though. Never used one of these before
so not sure how or if they work well

Or should I return it and get one with holes (baffles) it in.

Will this baffle work with stud girdle. All baffles seem to hit it (to long).
Have earlier post answering another reply on this. Just trying to find
best solution here.

You can reverse it and run the PCV Valve off the PSGR Valve Cover and Vent off the DVR's but generally it's done the other way around as the Windage caused by the Engine tends to concentrate Oil Vapours to the Passenger Side.

If this a BBC - Unless you have very Tall Valve Covers there is simply NO Clearance between the top of the Valve Cover and Girdle, not even for the Small Morrosso ones which are nothing more then a Rubber Pod with a Slit cut into them. You can mount the Dodge Style Breather on top of the Valve Cover then install an Inline PCV Valve if you having problems of Raw Oil Passing through the PCV Valve but I doubt this would happen if you used the STD "L" Shaped Design on the Dvrs Side and used a Dodge Style Oil Breather on the PSGR Side then Tubed the Breather to the Base of the Air Cleaner.

I have no problems with Oil passing through the PCV Valve when using a Girdle as the Girdle actually works like a Baffle.

The PCV Valve only works when there is Vacuum and does not work when the Throttle Plates are moving or at WOT. The Hose from the Dodge Style Breather/Baffle piped to the Base Plate of the Breather takes over to relieve Crankcase Pressure when the PCV is inoperative. This system works Cleanly, Does not foul Plugs or drown the PVC with Oil on a 625Hp 7000rpm SR MKIV BBC with a JOMAR GIRDLE ;o)

All you have to do is use a PCV System the way GM Designed it using their recommended PCV Valve a cheap NAPA Dodge Style Breather and I epoxied a 1/2 Copper Plumbers Elbow into the Base of a Drop Base Air Cleaner. That is a Garbage Can Lid Cowl Air Induction for a LT1 Scoop. You don't have to spend BIG Money on glitter when all you need is a little ingenuity to make things work ;o)

Nice set-up. Question is: posted this many times and not a straight
answer. Does a PCV in Breather work just as good as std "L" in your
photo. Am looking to get a billet one which looks far better than a
standard one. This will be on driver's vc and just your standard
breather on passenger side.

I just took a piece of tin cut it and drilled hole for the poly locks and trimed a couple of half moons in it to clear the indents for the blots in the valve cover and put a slight bend on the edges and drilled and taped my stud girdle and used some short 1/4 20 bolts and safty wired it to the girdle. Works great no oil any where. Its not very pretty but who can see it under the valve cover. I used a breather from Earls and some braied line right in to my 1" spacer plate i drilled and tapped. Good luck
