I am having a problem finding a fuel pump for my 69 RS. I have got a GM High Perf. Pump(just like the Edelbrock #1721) and it just won't clear everything. I picked up a univ. electric pump at Advance and it pumps 6psi. but only 35-40gph. Will this be enough for a 400+hp 383? I know that 6psi is all I need for the Carter AFB carb., but is that enough fuel flowing(gph)to feed that much HP? The High Perf. pump put out 110gph.
Thanks

You can use the Edelbrock #1721 if you buy the new base plate Edelbrock makes for that pump. It replaces the bottom plate and is drilled for the inlet and/or outlet to come out the bottom of the pump to clear motor mounts, etc. It's about $18. or so and is available from Summit, Jeg's, etc. Part number is 1797 for 3/8" pipe thread and 1798 for 1/2" pipe thread.

I can't use that kit, the fuel pump just barely clears the cross member. There isn't enough room to plumb under the pump.

I had a cheap stock pump, from autozone, in my chevelle, car also has 5/16 fuel line. I hit 107MPH in the 1/4. Pump started leaking so I replaced it with a holley street/strip pump. No difference. It will probably work.
