I'm trying to get my engine started this weekend and I cannot find my paperwork for the heads and which spark plug I need for them. The heads are Edelbrock RPM 6089. Everyone is closed that can help me. Anyone have the spark plug info......please.....Thanks

check out Edelbrock's website- maybe there's some info there.
is the Edelbrock tech line open? i hear they are pretty useful.
maybe call Summit or jegs and hope you don't get some 18 year old who doesn't know how to read a tech manual.

I also use the RPM heads. The plugs needed are 14mm x 3/4" reach gasketed spark plugs; Champion RC-12YC or equivalent. I'll forward the instructions by e-mail. Let me know if you get them. graemlins/beers.gif

Accel does have a shorty as well but the Champions are cheaper......they are both the same size.

Be sure to put on anti seize compound to prevent damage to the threads on your heads.

Do you have a # on the Champion shorty?

I used the recommended Champions as well. Edelbrock says they're shorter but I couldn't see where they were any shorter than the AC's I was previously running.

I used the AC's that crossed over from the champion number, they where more readily available than the champions.

unless they just came out in the last 2 days, Accel does not make a shorty that will work with the rpm head.

Champion RC-12YC or equivalent. I run this plug in my Briggs & Stratton engines.

It also works well in my 2 cycle Lawn Boy!

Yes they do make an Accel shorty plug I have a set on my car right now, look at the "yellow" plug in the head in this picture.

Like I said earlier they are the same size as the Champions...I have a box of Champions on the shelf at home as well and compared them.

Or look for yourself on page 119 here:

i've got the same heads, 6089's, just ask the parts guy for plugs for a 1998-current durango, same plugs, threads and all.

i personally put Bosch's in my car, but I had NGK FR5's before.

Well we got close to getting it to run. I would say one more day to fininsh some of the small stuff. Is it strange you get excited by having your electric fan run for the first time?

i can fully understand that dude, if you think thats strange though, a couple nights ago after i got my new tires ride balanced and put on my wheels, i went outside about 3 times to smell them.

:-\ eh, gotta love your car i guess

Part # 786 is not listed as a header plug. It's just a Denso spark plug. I called Mr. Gasket several months ago looking for a header or shorty plug to fit the Edelbrock RPM heads and was told that they did not make a "header" plug for these heads yet. Just because it says Accel on it does not make it a shorty. When they do make it, it will be 1/4" shorter than the RC-12YC.

LukeSkywalker, do you really need shorty plugs? Which headers are you running?

The reason I ask, is I'm also using the RPM heads on my 70, and I'm using Hooker Supercomp headers with a lot of plug clearance. The plugs I use are Splitfire triple platinum. I know a lot of people doubt the Splitfire plugs, but the triple platinum versions work great for me. I noticed smoother running and a mileage increase immediately. Mine have a lifetime warranty and have been in there for years. They are also about 3/16" shorter than AC's.

I also have tons of plug clearance with the RPM heads and Hooker Super Comps. Check out www.sparkplugs.com. (http://www.sparkplugs.com.) It is an excellent place to go sparkplug shopping.
