Maybe you guys can give me a starting point with this carb. I had an 870cfm on the 540 and was able to obtain a 950 hp. The idle circuit is very responsive and seems to be ok no stumbles or bogs. The problem is the seat of the pants power just dosent seem like its there compared to the 870. Im running 81s in the front and 87s in the back and air bleeds are 29s. I took it out with these jets and #33 air bleeds and looked at the plugs they looked a little lean, not alot of color and a little white on the tip. Thats when I switched the air bleeds to the 29s figuring the smaller bleeds would pull more fuel through the main jets. Seems a little better but it just dosent pull hard through the whole rpm range. Does the main jets sound small, Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks Rich

Unless you have a EGT I suggest using mph to determine proper jetting. Jet up until mph drops off. If you are running racing gas you can read plugs but it is hard to read plugs when running unleaded fuel.
Good Luck

What did the plugs look like with the 870? Normally a plug should be bone white with no signs of detonation.

oger,
The plugs look black with the 870. The interesting thing is the main jets in the 870 are 74s all around. Main air bleeds are 28. With power valves in front and rear. Im not sure if I need to go up or down with jets on the 950. I understand the 950 flows much better with more velocity, so I figured I would have to go up. It just dosent pull hard. What are the signs of detonation on a spark plug?
Thanks Rich

Pure white. Dunno about that. Plugs should be tan in color. Again if you are running unleaded fuel you will not get color.
Here is an article on plugs, Hope it helps.
