Some years ago I saw an ad in Hot Rod for a bolt-on dual exhaust system with headers for a 1st gen Camaro.

Does anyone know who offers this?

I have the Dynomax headers and the Summit bolt on exhast kit. It needs to be modified a little bit since the passenger side header is a couple of inches longer than the drivers side. The summit kit was $129 and it took a few hours to install and a few more to get it tucked up under the X brace on my 69 convertible.

Thanks Bob. I'll see if it will work on a bb/auto.

69vert,

What did you have to do to make the pipes fit under the X brace? I'd like to do the same for my convertible, but i'm worried about the brace.
Thanks.

convertibleRS,

I just finished installing the Flowmaster American Thunder system and it fit great. I will have to shim the x-brace down about 1.25" in the front but everthing tucked in better than I expected.

I shortened the tubes coming from the header about 2". That allowed the the long pipes that run down the trans tunnel to fit under the x brace. I still had to shim it down a 1/2" or so. I am still working with the tailpipes right now. I may just go with turndowns, dont know for sure yet though.

Thanks for the responses, pwoolford and 69vert. When you say you're going to shim the brace, do you mean you'll use longer bolts and some washers to lower it? The stock bolts are pretty short and don't seem like they leave much room for lowering. Thanks again.

I installed welded SFC's and eliminated the x-brace. I wasn't keen on it hanging down that low after shimming.
