I just got a new front to back, single piece fuel line for my 67. It's basically bent in half for shipping. How do you bend that thing back to the original shape I need? I have the old smaller one to match up against, but I don't know how to straighten the tubing without kinking it or breaking it.

I am pretty sure they have special tube bending tools which make sure it doesn't kink.

I have a friend who did one on his car, I'll ask him.
I'd give a call to the tubing MFR to see, but I would push it against a flat surface like the floor on the outside of the bend and unbend it against it.
It will come out more flat that way and you will not get kinks.
You DO need to be careful when bending or unbending tubing.

Youn can also get a coil spring and "wind" it around the fuel line then push it over the bend. This will help keep it from kinking when you unbend it. This is just like bending a brake line that has the spring around it.

I think I would call the supplier...I really do not think it should have been bent in half, and I doubt that you can straighten it out without it breaking. Even if you do, it will always have a kink in it and is liable to break at any time. I bet if you call the supplier they will verify this.

The fuel lines come this way , how else would you ship a 10' crooked piece of steel line ? I've done these on at least 15 different cars , also with one piece brake lines , they ALL come this way and it's perfectly normal. It will not break , maleable steel doesn't break , especially brake lines they are MADE to be bent. The only way it would break is if you kink it flat and bend it back and forth two or three times. You can even bend them flat once and straighten them out (although it'll never look right) and still use them. Look at the way they bent it and reverse it , lay it against something or hold both ends up and push them outwards with the bend on the floor , etc.

The one line answer to this whole thread is :

"Bend it back , it'll be fine".
