69 Camaro, 383 with new one piece roller block, Vortec heads. Hyd roller cam about 550 lift. Heads have been modified for the additional lift.
I am currently using the Comp Cams Magnum roller tip rockers part number 1417. These are stamped steel rockers with a roller tip. These are a rail type rocker which I understand the Vortech heads require. The rails are thin washer type pieces of metal on each side of the roller tip. I recenty had these "rails" flatten on one of the rockers causing the rocker to slip off of the valve. Needless to say this bent the pushrod. I was discussing this with a local engine builder and his suggestion was to use pushrod guides to keep this from happening again. I am already using hardend pushrods. Somewhere in my hazy memory though I remember using pushrod guides with rail rockers is a no no. Can anybody help me here?
Thanks for your help.
