hi,
I was thinking about putting a root type blower(Weiand 177) on my small block 355, and was thinking of adding a 50 shot of nitrous to cool the cylinder down, when it gets hot in summer time what's the board opinion?

all forged?
good fuel system?
50 shot is small and shouldn't hurt if all is in top running order

Yes, forged pistons but building another short block over winter with lower compression

that is a-ok just as long as you have forged pistons and your motor isnt tired. I'll be doing the same except a 6-71 + 150 or more n2o. Have fun!

I've heard that a fogger type system with a roots blower has the added benefit of cooling the intake charge (the air out of a roots blower is pretty hot like you said) so a 150 shot may be worth more than 150 . . .
Adding 50 HP with a plate system on top of the blower probably does not have as much cooling effect (because the blower is heating it up), but will probably do just fine.

468 6 lbs of boost 10.89
125 shot 10.33 all on 93 premium.
You have to spray on top of the blower, unless you go to a high pressure system which frankly is just not worth it.

We built one just for fun a few years back. Get this.. We used a STOCK lower end 350 4-bolt cast crank ans cast pistons factory built with 70,000 miles on it out of an ols chevy p/u. I changed the cam (79.00 cam and lifter set ,solid grind) 19.00 timming set, 20.00 oil pump and left the crank rods and pistons in it. Put on a set of 462 fulie heads (1.94 - 1.50 ) and a 177 weind with a 250 shot cheater kit with a 750dp carb.
I put this in an old drag car and run this 6.09 in the 1/8. Had a blast for 3months then sold the engine minus blower and run it in a limited circle track car. There it lasted only 3weeks then burnt a piston. I'm sure it started burning while i had it with nitrous but my point is we beet this thing wor some time before hurting it all with stock parts.
I guess you never can tell.
Don't try this at home. Protect yourself and get better hardware it should last a long time with no problems.
Also I would recomend putting the plate on top to cool the charger and incomming air.
