Hi
First time posting.
I am restoring a 68 camaro BB 396 4sp. I have added vintage air ac, PS which is an AGR 800 series box a little bigger than stock, and a gear venders overdrive. The car also has oem PB. I need help with header selection? Would like ceramic metallic finish. I am open to any and all sugestions, short or long headers. I have a magnaflow 2.5 inch exhaust system starting at trans cross member. Thanks in advance! Tad

Welcome, Tad. How much are you willing to spend? It seems the high end headers fit much better than the less expensive ones. The guys here seem to like Hedmans quite alot, Hookers not so much. I have had newer Hookers on my Camaro, and they were not near the header the old Hookers were. If you are willing to spend the money, Stahls and Lemons are excellent.
Check out Sandersons. You call them up, give them your application, and they do the rest.

Most important, if there is any chance your car was not an original BBC then make sure you have the correct BBC engine frame brackets along with correct BBC engine mounts. 67-68 BBC use different frame brackets than 69 BBC. Also, 67-68 use the "short and wide" engine mounts while 69 use "tall and narrow". If you don't have the right combo, no headers will fit without a major headache.
When it comes to headers, I did similar research not too long ago. I decided on Hookers Comps 2457 (2" primary/3.5" collector) with Jet-Hot coating directly from Jet-hot ($508). Based on what I read, majority of members here had no fitting issues with Hooker Comps while very few did with Hooker SuperComps. Also, Hooker SuperComps tend to hang a little lower and may cause dragging. Difference between Comps and SuperComps is that SuperComps are "tuned". Based on info read here and my formulated opinion, the difference is marginal and potentially not worth the extra $300. I have also read as you did, regarding today's Hooker quality being not as good as previously. I am happy with what I've see so far after inspecting the headers. (see links below for pictures) The missing part of the pie is that I have not yet put the headers on as I am still waiting for my motor build to get finished. I will report as soon as they are installed. Given I have a manual steering box, I anticipate no problems...but you never know. Of course Lemons are nice, but they are $1200 too!
