I am looking to buy a new exhaust system, which one would i probly see the best performance for the street out of, i was on the www.gardnerexhaust.com (http://www.gardnerexhaust.com) website, i like the way they sound, but was wondering around how much they run for one of thoes setups. does anyone have views on either on these systems please let me know.

I have heard both the American Thunder (on my car) and the chambered exhaust (on a friend's '69). They do both sound great... I think his chambered system is a little louder and gives more of a pulsating "rappity rappity" sound. American Thunder is hard to beat for the price in my opinion though.

yea, that is a good price, and i am on sort of a budget, but do you think it will bolt right up to a hooker competition header, or are there any other headers that will bolt right up to it? do you know what kind of chambered exhaust your friend has??

I'm pretty sure the kit he has is the Gardner system... he has it in a factory Z with stock exhaust manifolds.
As for the American Thunder system, it bolted right up to my '68 with Dynomax headers. The tubes connecting the collecters to the front to rear pipes are longer than needed, so they should fit most any header. I couldn't have asked for an easier install.

I have the factory style chambered exhaust hooked up to my 1-3/4" Hooker Super Comps. It is fairly loud but not ridiculous. It is a horsepower robber but my car had it from the factory so I run it on my resto-rod. I would be using a pair of those dynomax super turbos for a quiet powerful sound if I did not want the aluminized chambered system from Rick's. It was in the $400+ range and hooked up to headers with no real issues. Beautiful welded on polished stainless steel tips.
