I have a 68 Camaro with a 383, making about 450 hp at the flywheel. I don't really know anything about suspension, and I was wondering what I could do to make it launch quicker, but still be semi comfortable on those long distance cruises. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!!

There's a number of things you can do. Slapper bars, lift bars, slide-a-links, cal-tracs. Any of these will help increase traction. graemlins/thumbsup.gif I have cal-tracs, and in order to drive on the street you can't have any pre-load. I assume its the same for slide-a-links too. Slapper bars don't affect ride either, as long as there's enough gap between the bumper and the spring. Not sure about the lift bars, b/c I've never run them. I think it depends on your budget and how much traction you really want. ;)

Front shocks that get the front end up applying presure to the rear help. Summit sells some cheap adjustable one. 90/10 to 60/40 I think.

If your car is still stock probably the cheapest thing that you could do and not get into a lot of major modifications is to add a good set of traction bars and a set of sticky tires. Do you have any problems with wheel hop with your current set up? When properly done traction bars will get rid of that as well.

Check out the Brakes and Suspension part here b/c there is more stuff than you will probably want to take the time to read... pdq67

Thanks very much. I think I will try the traction bars.
