You know what they say, "bigger is better"
HP750 would work well.
Rest looks ok,
what mph are you runnin?

MPH was 80.1

I have access to a Edelbrock 750 Performer 1407. Is that worth a try before I run out and buy something good? The only downside is working out the TV cable but that shouldn't be that much trouble just to make a pass or two.

This will help you out... I'd go with a 650.

rojo,
600 on the street is fine, but at the track its gonna hold you back some on the top end. I would try the 750vs and see how it does. I think you will pick up on the top end.

I agree that the 600 is probably a bit too small.

If you go with a double pumper a 650 would be best IMO do to the shallow stall and OD transmission. Engines are a little more picky with double pumper carb size -- they are not as forgiving if you go too big, especially with a tight stall and overdrive automatic trans.

If you go with a vac secondary that 750 Edelbrock would probably be just fine. I think in your case the vac secondary carb would be better -- something right about 750 cfm.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the Edelbrock 750 since it's available and decide from there.

Had the edelbrock 600 origionally.. It was too damn picky and too small.. found the 750 holley was just right.

If you try the Edelbrock make sure the TV cable is hooked up right and adjusted correct. One pass with out it will burn up the tranny.Yes you need a bigger carb. The 600 is good on the street for throttle response but restrictive at the strip A 650dp. or a 750 vac. would be good.

I have a friend that has the edelbrock head package for 425hp. He had an eldelbrock carb, then bought a new holley 750 with vacuum secondaries witch gave him a tenth or two better 1/8th mile times. He finally listened to me and put a Holley 750 pro series on it and times went from 8.9's to 8.6's with about the same 60' time you have in a 81 Corvette. I have a 69 with the Holley systemax package...425hp. My car weighs 3280 no driver.....I weigh 230 myself. My best time is 8.202 @ 84.5 mph with a 1.88 60' time.(Nitto Drag radials) Get the 750 proseries. You will be very happy graemlins/thumbsup.gif
