O.K. I have the template from Rick's 1st Gen to mount my 302 emblems on my cowl, but when I look at my OER emblems, they have the 2 mounting posts as well as another smaller and shorter nub (kinda like what you'd see on a hat or lapel pin to keep it from spinning). This will keep the emblem from laying flush on the cowl once I drill the holes. What do I do? Has anybody seen this before?"

Probably the center pin is for a locator hole.

Maybe you can carefully grind it off? Or mark the hood after you make the mounting holes and put another small hole there? If your OER's are like my aftermarket's, they're not going to spin as the mounting posts are on the end of the emblem...

Be careful when using that template. Double check that the hole pattern in the template matches your emblems because they don't always put the holes in the correct places.

NOS GM part number 3961496 purchased 8-3-77 has the nub on the top right of the "0".
Never knew that. Also, the two pegs are off-set.
Not sure why you why the nub is even needed.
