I'm going to replace my oil pan and am looking for more capacity with a windage tray attached. My car is dropped and has minimal ground clearance so I don't want it that deep. 8" may hang too low. Any suggestions? 350 crate engine.

I was looking at this pan

Is 8" too low for a 2 inch drop? I'm also wondering if this could be installed in the car. It's a little taller in the front than stock.

I have a 68 with a Moroso road race pan #21900, which is 8 1/4" deep. It is definately "pushing it" for clearance. I would have preferred to have Moroso build a custom pan to the identical configuration that was 7 1/2 " deep. It would then be perfect. I am 2 front 1 1/2 rear lowered. I run 25" dia tires. If you go for an 8" pan be prepared to keep the tire diameter up some.

That is the same pan I am running on my 383 in a second gen Camaro. It is a nicely constructed pan for the money but oil filter and starter changes are a real pita. Part of that may be due to the 1 3/4" Hooker Super Comps I run and other headers may provide more clearance. Every time I change the oil filter I have to disconnect the header/exhaust connection on the drivers side then loosen the header to head bolts so I can swing the header away from the motor and slide the oil filter out sideways toward the front of the car. Maybe a shorter standard filter would fit but I prefer to run the taller filters.
I was able to remove the pan in the car but again mine was a second gen and I do not know how that compare to a first gen Camaro. Do yourself a favor and use the appropriate FelPro 1pc pan gasket, much easier to do while laying on your back.

I just went outside in the shed and measured my stock 327's pan on the stand. From the block to the deepest part I came up with 7 7/8". I don't have any problems with the pan I have now and it's also stock. I think I'll be fine with 8". I guess I should change my title. My headers are lower than that and I have problems sometimes with them over speed bumps, but that's it.
