I am wondering are full roller rockers worth it over roller tips also do you have to use guide plates with them or just screw in studs on a smallblock with 1.5 ratio also who makes the best? thanks

They make kinds to work with and without guideplates. I don't know how much of an advantage the full rollers are over simply roller tipped rockers, but I imagine any reduction in friction is a good thing. I have heard that Harland Sharp makes very good rockers.

Don't waste your money on roller tip's. The advantage of a roller rocker is less friction, 90% of the friction is at the fulcrum point. Go full roller or don't bother. With correct geometry, I have not seen any less valve guide or stem wear with roller tips. Crane and Comp Cams make very good roller rockers. Also Summit Racing aluminum rollers are identical to Crane, I think that Crane makes them for them (not sure), and they are cheaper than Crane.

I used Blazer aluminum full roller rockers by Crane with allen head locking nuts (posi-locks?). Due to my cam and head selection if I had used standard rockers or roller tips, I also would have had to buy .001 longer pushrods to correct valvetrain geometry. The full roller base allowed me to stay with standard pushrods. I also have to say, after adjusting valves with (posi-locks?), I'll never go back to the locking nuts GM used, unless I inherit a lot of money for concourse resto. I personally think that full roller rockers are worth the extra money.

the best would be the comp PRO MAGNUM $250! the perpose of switching to a comp roller tip is they are an exact 1.52 or 1.6 where as GMs 1.5 is really around 1.45 average.the tip really doesn't roll,just provides a precise point of contact. the comp magnum roller tips are one of the strongest avalible for the money. i would go with the roller tips if your on a budget because the full rollers dont make all that much more power until above 5500 rpm or the lift goes beyond .500. but your oil temp will go down about 20 degrees with full rollers regardless of power output. hope this helps!

I was just reading some old posts and noticed that you had asked how a roller rocker could correct for valve train geometry. I can't explain it. I contacted Edelbrock twice in three days before I ordered anything for my engine, because I couldn't understand whether I needed longer pushrods or not. The answer they gave me, was that longer pushrods were only needed with standard style rockers, and some roller tips. It had to do with a cleances. The roller gave more clearance. I remember comparing the standard and rollers before installing and they were correct. I just don't remember the exact reason.
