: big block coil springs

My 69 was originally a small block, but I converted it to a big block. The car did not have the original coil springs, and they were replaced with small block with air cond. before I bought it. I am in the process of doing a frame off resto, and am needing to install new springs. I loved the way the car sit with the big block in it, but there was a coil spring adjuster in the left side. I am debating about installing new big block springs, but I don't want my ride height too high in the front end. I am not wanting the gasser look, but on the other hand, I don't want a "hugger" look either. I would like to know what people are running, and where they got the springs, and the modifications to get the ride height. Thanks.

I bought 4 springs from Eaton for my 100% stock Camaro. They rode about 1" too high all over compared to factory Z/28 spec so I told them about it. They made me a new set 1" shorter than the first and sent them out to me. Once I had the new ones in, I called Eaton and they sent UPS to pick up the old pieces. No additional charges for parts or shipping. I know that might not be the perfect outcome but they do stand behind their product. I was only out the labor for the second R&R. I would buy from them again without question.

I did see the word "resto", but if your not a stickler for detail, have you considered the QA1 coil over adjstuables? I switched to them and absolutely love em!

p.s. my car is panther pink, so mine doesnt qualify "resto" in any fashion.... http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the replies guys. I will look into Eaton and see what they can offer me. What are the prices on these?

Jim: How do those coil overs ride/handle? What are the advantages to them? Interesting. I have never had anyone suggest that. Something to look into.

The most obvious advantage is that the ride height is adjustable by being a coil over and also the QA1 shocks have an external 10 position knob to adjust the compression rate to soften or firm up the ride depending on how you want to drive. Whats funny to me is that I took out drag springs (moroso) and put these in so I could lift the front end up and stop banging my headers on flat pavement going around a curve and I didnt lose any 60 foot times. What I did gain is a great deal of the around-the-curves driveability which in itself was important as I have removed my front sway bar completely. On a side note, even though my 60 foot times (1.63 on the average) have stayed the same I no longer lift the front wheels while launching like I did with the other springs.

Where can I find these coilover springs.

I have a suspension problem, (Which I'll list seperately, because I want to get all my info together first)

In the meantime, I'd really like to look into this coil over thing.
How much do they cost, where can I get them etc..

Thanks,
Nick

I took out my good '67, 396 A/C coil springs if you are interested in them when I installed my cut #5536's for my BB now?

They are up on the shelf.

Let me know. They should be just what you are looking for..
