Since my car was originally a 4 speed, i found a correct m21 with bellhousing. But my question is... What type of flywheel/clutch should be used with this?
I'm not looking for what the original was running, just what a good replacement is for a good price.
The engine is a 383 with an external balance crank.

Any ideas where to go for the flywheel/clutch package?

Ouch... I don't think a stock chevy external balance flywheel was ever made, they were all automatics. You'll have to look to the aftermarket... summitracing.com, or maybe jeggs.

You can use either a 10.4 or 11" clutch setup, use what fits your starter (staggered bolt holes = 11", straight bolt holes = 10.4")

Yes, GM made does make both externally balanced flywheels for the 400 SB and the 454 BB! My 406's F/W is a stock GM one!!

My 454 is an inexpensive aftermaket one..

PS., Try Northern Automotive Parts b/c they have a very good inexpensive selection of both SFI approved and non-race, stock oriented ones too..

F/W's AND F/P's..... Big and small and neutral and externally balanced..
