: What shifter to use with 6L80 trans conversion?

I am doing a LS3/6L80 conversion into a 67 camaro and the factory auto shifter from a 2010 is way too tall and would require a custom console to look decent. Due to its design and size it can not really be modified. I am looking for an aftermarket auto 6 speed shifter for the 6L80 that is shorter and less bulky.

I know the 09 CTSV has the same trans, but I don't know if the shifter is any smaller. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Worst case I will have to modify the tunnel to relocate & drop the shifter . The tunnel had to be raised nearly 2" in order to get the trans mounted properly.

I know some people like Prodigy Customs have done the conversion before. What shifter did you use.

Did you need a custom console?

Thanks

Dave

Due to the mechanics and design of the shifter it doesn't appear to be customizable.

As I previously said.

Did you look at any short throw shifters? Would one lower it enough? there are a few out there...

F1 type for steering wheel. I think its called a "shrifter". This thing rocks.

I think you could use a 67 camaro powerglide shifter....The 6L80E has 5 positions just like a powerglide. You need P R N D S (S= sport mode, which is you shifting up and down ...with say a paddle shifter option mounted to your steering wheel) You could use a stock console in this option. Im wanting to do one of these swaps as well. Going to follow your thread here, or do you have a build thread some where?

The speartech shifter looks cool also....!!

The Speartech is also large(09 CTSV) and would require a custom console. I am going with a bump shifter(tap) from a non sponsorng vendor. I should then be able to use my OER console. Not sure yet how much if any modification will be required. I think I want to stay away from paddles, but haven't made up my mind.
