: Should new pushrods be installed with comp ultra gold roller rockers?
Camaro55 May 26th, 10, 07:36 AM I just got my new comp ultra gold rocker arms and it says in the instalation book that new pushrods should be used. I was just wondering if this is true, or is just something comp is doing to try to get you to buy their rocker arms? The push rods probally have no more than 10,000 miles.
hhott71 May 26th, 10, 07:48 AM If you sold pushrods,,,,,,,,, what would You recommend?
john68 May 26th, 10, 08:03 AM I would, I would not any of the old wear marks on the new rockers, even more if you
have roller lifters, as they dont spin.
Camaro55 May 26th, 10, 10:51 AM Well I don't have roller lifters or anything, I just don't wanna spend anymore money where it's not necassary
BigBlock1969RS May 26th, 10, 11:28 AM When you have the rockers off, just check the push rods for any wear on both ends as well as for any signs of cracking or bending on the rod itself. Replacing the pushrods at the same time is a precaution, since the pushrod ends wear with the rocker tips.
gingerbreadman1977 May 26th, 10, 11:44 PM i think they will be ok if its only a mild build with stock spring pressures. if you put a roudy cam in there and have heavy springs then i would spend the $$
ace's68 May 27th, 10, 12:22 AM I think you're good.
A bunch of us have probably just checked the rods out, cleaned them up a bit and re installed them in other builds.
I've had the same hardened push rods in 3 different setups, and the current being a somewhat "big" cam, and spin it to 6,500k regularly. Haven't broken a rod ever, and they have about 7,000 miles on them.
Fred Ficarra May 27th, 10, 08:23 AM Yeah, probably just fine. Hold the ends against your thumb and rotate each contact surface. Bet they're mirror smooth.
Camaro55 May 28th, 10, 05:46 PM I checked them and they all seem pretty good, so it should be good to put the new rockers on
