Hey guys, sorry it's not Camaro related...
I am working on this Cutlass, trying to get the engine compartment detailed but anyway. Does anyone recognize this distributor and any suggestions on what I need to buy to replace the cap and rotor?
It's a '69 455 - (I really miss my Camaro)
Thanks in advance

Drew,
Looks like a stock GM HEI distributor with one of the kits that were designed to convert to an external coil and MSD unit Personally I would just get a new Oldsmobile HEI with the coil in the cap and trash the external coil and the MSD unit. That would clean up the engine compartment a lot and I bet you will never notice a bit of performance difference. There are several sources, I think Accel has one, or even just a stock one.
The other thing is that the distributor looks like it has had the vacuum advance removed ..... ok for a race car but if you are driving it on the street it will run a ton better with the vacuum advance working.
If you want to keep the existing setup, just buy a new HEI cap and rotor and transfer over the adapter that is screwed in where the coil is supposed to be. If you want to replace the coil, I would get an MSD one.

Bill could be right. Weren't the caps that color from the factory?
If not I'd say it is an accel unit based on the cap and rotor... But then it would have accel stamped somewhere on or accel parts on the inside... maybe not?
Can you maybe take the rotor off and get a few p/n's?
I also agree, that thing needs a vacuum canister.

.....and if you decide to put an original cap and HEI coil back in the dist you have, be sure to put a ground strap in with the coil as they were originally. If you don't put that ground strap in, you can count on replacing coils and modules on a weekly basis.

Thank you guys for the help, I really appreciate it!
I'll see if I can get some p/n's...
