Square Peg in a Round hole.
This is a movement of information from my other posts dedicated to the Restoration of my car. I am now to the Firewall with this restoration. I received a call last night from the blaster, and as he detailed all of the Damage to the floor, it past the reasonable stage for just welding in replacement patches. It would be a Frankenstein work of art. I am not ready to do that. At this point, it is just a better idea to replace the floor with a complete replacement. This thread starts in Germany with the purchase of an old race car step by step to where it is at this moment. As a note, I have retained the factory Hard Parts, the Calipers, the Rotors, and the rusted or cut up Chrome parts. The sheet metal that was rusted beyond repair has been sent to that great recycler in the sky. I don’t have room for the additional car.

Problems in the car
Rust around the Windows, and in the frames of the doors. The dash was cut out to run a modern Radio, and the rear floor was a quilt work of cuts and patches. Some of the cuts were pop riveted over with strips of Rubber. The Battery was relocated to a box riveted in the rear floor. It is a German thing. The Sub Frame was sraight, But there were cracks in the front of the stubs and it had reinforcement patches welded in front of the A Frame Mounts. Many of the specific things were already listed in other posts, so I am just showing what it needed to get to where the cart is right now.

Blow apart and fit new sheet metal.
The Front fenders are Golden Legion, The Doors and Floor are NPD, and the rest of the sheet metal are Genuine GM Steel purchased in 1987 when you could get most of the real thing. The Hood is from Classic Industries. It is their version of a Yenko Hood.

Really Bad Gaps. Golden Legion Fenders. Had to cut and draw in the bottoms of the fenders to close the gap. Also had to remove the top inner Fender, Move the fender back, and reweld it to get the fender where it is supposed to be.

Repair of the Dash was done by using a section I cut out of a Junk Yard Camaro that was on the way to the shredder. That was a sad situation, but in Indiana when one is turned in to the scrap yard, it can not be saved.

Finally blown apart for the last time, Media blasted the Firewall and underside. We were able to mount it on the rotisserie so the underside can be inspected. There is a Big Square hole where I think the Germans mounted a Battery box, and two long holes that had been covered by riveting rubber over the holes.

This was my first time with a rotisserie. Once it is even, it is so easy to roll it over to do anything. I know those who use them all the time think I sound like a kid, but this was a blast. All of the previous work under the car had been done on the floor, Everyone should have one of these.

It was what holds the front of the console. I am not sure where you can get one, but with the amount of reman Consoles being sold, They would have to make a bracket also.
A quick search on BING came up with this one at Camaro Central for $14 and some change,
http://www.camarocentral.com/product_p/con-3.htm
Same $14.95 price here

Yes sir, this is a 1967. I guess you should call her a 1967/2010. She was born June of 1967, and should be reborn fall of 2010 if all goes well.:)

Above you see a great picture of the new roof and the bracing installed to protect the rigidity of the body, keeping it straight after the floor was removed.
We found that the previous body man had not welded the back side of the new Rocker panels on either side. This is why it is always good to be able to get one upside down for an inspection.

I was conflicted about the Yellow, I am color blind and Butternut Yellow does not look the same to me that it does to the rest of the world, unless you have the same problem I do. I am going with a color I can distinguish. I will post some pictures as soon as I can get over to the paint booth in the next couple of days.

My garage is not heated, so my build was delayed till it warmed up. Last week it really started getting nice enough to work on the car again, and my company notified me that I am one of seven positions they will no longer need. I guess everything is going to be on hold for a while till I get working full time again.
Thank everyone for following my build, and I promise to add to it as soon as things are back in order.
Chris.

Chris-- sorry to hear the job news. An ongoing trend nationwide for sure. Keep your eyes open, chin up, and attitude positive... something will come along. Hope to see you back in action on here asap (with good job news too)... :beers:

My old job went to Mexico 4.5 years ago. Couple hundred of us permanently laid off. Sucks, but you take what is dealt you. Like Todd said, keep your chin up, something will come along. Remember, when one door closes, another one opens. You'll find another job and be OK. Best of luck!

The worst thing is waiting for everything to get processed. The company won't even get anything processed till the 30th, my final paycheck won't be till then, when they killed my job on the first. I'm not letting any grass grow in the interim. I have been knocking on doors for what it is worth. Sometimes I just go to the garage, set in my car and say screw it. At least I can count on the car to be there.
Thanks for the support everyone.
