: Manual brake to power brake conversion..??
SPARKY69 Jun 9th, 10, 10:14 AM I sold my 69 rs camaro and the car has manual drum brakes and i bought the power disc brake kit
where to get the nipple for the intake for vacuum?
Split it off the carb or the intake?
its a Stock 307
srode Jun 9th, 10, 05:18 PM Below the throttle plate on the carb or off the intake is the place to get it - factory was from the intake.
SPARKY69 Jun 10th, 10, 03:38 AM any ideas of where to get that fitting from?
Eric Kammerer Jun 10th, 10, 04:38 AM I would assume you want to keep that car as close to OE in appearance as possible, within the realm of a normal budget (not going to spend the money for an original 9204 booster, etc).
And since you are going to a manual trans, you don't need vacuum for a trans modulator any more.
So, I will look at UPC J50/J52 in the AIM to confirm all this, but to start you need:
- fitting that screws into the intake manifold, will probably just be a replacement for the fitting there now that provides vacuum for the trans modulator. The replacement fitting looks like this one: http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-intake-manifold-vacuum-fitting-power-brake-booster-threaded-port-1967-1969.html
- hard line from fitting to support bracket: http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-power-brake-booster-vacuum-supply-tube-small-block-with-fitting-1967-1969.html
- support bracket: http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-spark-plug-wire-tower-stand-small-block-left-rear-for-cars-with-power-brakes-1969.html
(note that the bracket also has a part at the top where the plastic plug wire loom fits, so the bracket does two things; supports PB vacuum line, and supports plug wires)
-rubber hose and clamps: http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-power-brake-booster-vacuum-hose-kit-small-block-1967-1969.html
So, the PB vacuum comes off the back of the intake, behind carb and in front of distributor. Metal fitting, then metal tube. Once the tube passes through the support bracket, the rubber hose gets clamped over and runs to the booster check valve.
SPARKY69 Jun 10th, 10, 05:42 AM eric, yes he is going to run the auto with the power brakes for a couple of years untill he can swing a tko..thanks for the time and great help.. this is exactly what i needed for this lil rs car..i want it stock as can be and yes we got a 9204 booster or the replica version i mean..lol
KevinW Jun 10th, 10, 08:42 AM wrong info :)
Everett#2390 Jun 10th, 10, 08:50 AM Since PG, you will need this nipple on the manifold

SPARKY69 Jun 10th, 10, 09:29 AM thanks guys!
Eric Kammerer Jun 10th, 10, 10:18 AM If the stock 307 has the 2bbl carb, there should be a threaded hole in the center rear of the baseplate to put an elbow in (did not see it on Ricks). Then just a rubber line to booster.
Now Kevin, I know you know your stuff, and ordinarily I don't question you, but I want to make sure Bill gets the info he needs.
I just checked J50 in the 69 AIM, and it shows all small blocks getting the threaded connection nipple off the intake itself, as I described and as Ev linked the correct nipple that serves both the power brakes and trans vacuum modulator. In fact, the J50 illustration for small blocks shows the 2 bbl and elbow you described, but shows that hose as an "anti-smog" connection.
So, is it possible that the 307 2bbl power brake hose you described, off the carb base, is not correct? Again, I respect you and your info, so you know I am not happy about having contradictory info, but...
I am going to scan some AIM pages for Bill tomorrow, so I just want to make sure he has what he needs to make the car "right."

Hmm, I think you might be right. I will have to check my 2bbl manifolds tonight. What I thought was the vac line might be the PCV valve connection like you say. sorry for the faulty memory :)
Eric Kammerer Jun 10th, 10, 11:13 AM No, that's okay, I just want to make sure we don't leave Bill scratching his head or getting a bunch of parts he doesn't need. :)
SPARKY69 Jun 10th, 10, 11:22 AM dam i love team camaro..( thanks guys) i dont want to screw up this virgin car by any means..
KevinW Jun 10th, 10, 03:00 PM I stand corrected, thanks Eric! Use the manifold vac T with one nipple and the booster connector for a PG with PB. The elbow in the rear of carb is the PCV hose connection. There should be a manifold vac T installed now with only one nipple for the trans modulator line, just replace that with the one that has a the PB connector.
SPARKY69 Jun 11th, 10, 03:37 AM just ordered everything from ricks! thanks guys..
