: Antennae, yes or no

Well here is my dilemma. My car is ready to pick up from the body shop and I noticed that they forgot to drill a hole in the pass side fender and mount the antennae. At first I wanted them to put it back on but now that I think about it, I think it may look better without it. What do yall think?

If I decide not to put it back on I am going to need some kind of antennae or something to make my radio get a signal and I don't know of anything to use. Do yall know of something that I can use if I choose not to have an antennae? Thanks for your opinions. ;)

There are a few different types of hidden antenna's available. Dakota Digital has one.... there are others.
Looking at your car... it's a tough decision. Looks like you went for the factory look more or less, so an antenna wouldn't be out of place.

Pat I like them better with out one.
I saw a thread here on hidden ones , not sure where though.
I think Summit offers one , I need to get that.

I went through roughly the same thing, except that I was deciding before paint.

Much cleaner looking without a front mounted antenna.

There is a hidden, powered antenna made by AutoLoc and sold at Advance that sells for about $20 and works great. I will find you the part number, but if you can find it at an Advance nearby, it is cheap to try and should work well. All it needs is a 12V power lead (my head unit had a lead for a power (roll up) external antenna, so I used that). My antenna is stuck to the top of the glove box cardboard and works well here in the Philly burbs.

Here is the thread with the part number.

I forgot, if you like/want to listen to AM, then you will probably have to use the stock fender mounted antenna. I have never seen a hidden antenna that picks up AM.

Thank you guys for your votes and advise on the hidden antennae. Here is the only pic I have where you can see the antennae to get an idea of what it looks like:

I'd go without but didn't want the extra expense of a hidden one.

I vote for no antenna, or 2nd choice would be rear quarter-mounted antenna. Just make sure your rear spoiler clears it.:)

Autoloc power antenna in the right rear quarter panel here. My Sony radio turns off the antenna lead when playing a CD or something off the USB port so the antenna is only up when the actual AM/FM radio is playing. $30 off ebay and $10 for a 15 foot lead extension.

Because of your modern styling or your 69' , with the rims and tinted windows, I would go for no antenna. Just to keep it modern.

I voted no antenna. I had a power antenna on the rear quarter them switched it to another kind. Now that I am doing body work my a father-in-law thought that I did not want the hole. And closed it up. I didn't tell him otherwise after. But I really think it will look cleaner without. And am now checking into hidden antennas. Who is happy with theirs and what brand? Doesn't matter so much about AM stations, I don't listen to them much anyway.
