View Full Version : which clutch?

I have a Muncie M-21 that is going behind a 500hp 383 which will be going in this weekend. The 10.5" Centerforce Dual Friction I had installed before on my mild 355 is toast after only about 6000 miles. I've been considering getting another one, but I don't know how well it will hold up with so much more power. Is there anything else out there that is a little more heavy duty at a decent price and is fairly easy on the leg?

Also, my old Centerforce clutch disk is pretty much gone. The Pressure Plate seems to be in good shape though, except that the "fingers" on the plate aren't even anymore. That is, not in a perfect circle, more like an ellipse. I assume this means it's toast too, right?

Thanks a bunch,
Ryan

I would hazard to say that something other than the clutch is wrong.(defective clutch, wrong one, something wrong with install, etc).

I have a Centerforce II (step below dual friction) and I have beat on it with many power shifts, drag runs, etc and still looks great with near 10,000 miles on it. This was behind 406 and M20 for most of those miles.
