: Installing rear seat cover question

I'm getting ready to install the 1969 convertible rear deluxe seat covers. They are PUI brand. I don't have a pattern to go by because someone in the past installed their own seat covers. I haven't found a picture of anyone doing them. One post mentioned a wire going through a slit in the fabric around the edge, it might have been for a different year. The top cover has a doubled up reinforcing piece that goes around the edge. It's continuous up one side and over to the top corner. Then it overlaps and continues on down. Does a piece of wire need threaded through this or is this used like it is to hog ring the cover in place on this reinforcement?
Right now I have taken the shaped thick foam padding off of the burlap. There are wires that may be original or was just for the non original covers. They are on the front side of the burlap. Are these added or original, or would it hurt anything to leave them there?
There is nothing but the burlap on the frames now. What can I use for padding materials and what are some instructions? A picture of the back of the seat where rings attach, and any other pictures, would be helpful too since I don't have the original installation to look at.
Thanks

It's been a while since I did mine, but I'm pretty sure I just hogringed it as it came. I got my foam from an upholstery place and discarded the old stuff. I'd never done it before and it came out great. The back seat was much easier than the buckets.

Yes, you need to put wires in the fabric reinforcing slits all the way around. That's what you hog ring to the frame.
Go to the store and buy plastic coated or rubber coated clothes hangers. They work great and resist moisture.

While you're there, buy some thick closed-cell foam, maybe 1" thick and some batting used for making pillows and stuff. The closed-cell stuff doesn't need to be real stiff, but stiff enough to help shape the seat. The batting can be used for fine tuning or adding some extra softness for your butt.

The upper corners of the seat back portion will need extra batting\foam in order to fill them out. Sorta like a womans shoulder pads in a dress. :)
The seat covers are square and pointed, but the seat frame is rounded so the seat cover will bunch and sag in those upper ends... fill them up before putting the new covers on.

Lay the seat cover on the bench in front of the bare frame so you can see where the seams are, giving you an idea where you need the extra foam in order to shape the seat. Usually along the front edge (where the back of your knees will be) and along the outside of the seams... sorta going around your butt in a U. Then add some to the butt area, leaving the seams (those fabric pulls with wires in them) thinner so you can hog ring them in easier. It'll shape the seat cover.

I also transferd the wire over.
Maybe you could use a coathanger ?
