: Looking at two ebay convertibles
Awesome forums. I'm in the market for a 1st generation convertible. Doesn't have to be numbers matching, but I want to be able to sell it for what I buy it for if I decide to get the cash back out. Looking for a driver than can be restored in about 5 years when the kids can wrench...Any opinion on the value of these two:

RobSS1113 Jul 3rd, 10, 10:51 AM those 2 cars looks like very good driver quality, dont know how much wrenching you would need to do on either one of those. Im guessing the way the economy is they should be around in the 15 - 20K area .. someone correct me if I am wrong.
good luck in your decision
srode Jul 3rd, 10, 11:26 AM I'd choose the first one if they were both offered at the same price.
3forme Jul 3rd, 10, 12:10 PM love the emblem placement on the first one.
Dealers don't typically just let cars go cheap and I don't think paint is the only issue keeping the price down on the 2nd one. I'd bet the dealer is over pricing it by several grand compared to comparable cars on the market.
The first one looks cleaned up nice but no telling what the sellers reserve is. It's by far the better car for your plans, I'm guessing the reserve will be close to $30k on it...

That's my question but you beat me to it! I really appreciate all the help so far.

How much would that knock the value down?
dred Jul 3rd, 10, 03:11 PM Vin is posted under vehicle information. Third digit on vin is a 3 = 6 cylinder

That car is right down the street from me. I agree whoever mounted the emblems were wayyyyyyyy off.

The Sleeper 327 Jul 3rd, 10, 03:59 PM imo you can find better than that. why are 67 rs emblems on the first car......first car has a long water pump with alt. on the wrong side, 2nd vert looks like a great project/driver (not a 20k car)

Nice lead, I'll check that one out...
So the 2nd car is a true V8, not sure if original 4 speed or not. Don't know if it is a 12 bolt rear, I've got a question in.
So all else being equal, what is the $ difference in a clone that was a 6 and a non-numbers matching but true SS?

Not a bad looking picture for $15k. His name is Tom. I went up to Ohio and looked at a car he had about 6 years ago. He gets cars in all different levels of condition. I found that for the most part, he was pretty honest about the condition of them on the phone. When I drove up there, nothing was overstated.
But that car above ^^ really reminds me of my '68 vert. Before I added the Z stripes to mine.
