OK, I did it!! And I found out about it sitting where David doesn't want ta hear about it again!!!
Anyway, way back when, I bought a set of Heddman 1.75" four tube long headers for my 454 turned 496 from the old RHS in Memphis, TN...
Now after reading my old PAW cat, I happened ta glance through the headers and saw where they won't fit P/S!!! Now I'm gonna install P/S on my old car so NOW need a set of headers that WILL fit P/S...
Which numbers and brands will fit my BB, '67 now that are 1.75", four tube, long???
Seems like I always out-smart myself when it takes years to do something!!!

try the ones you got before sweating it- they might fit. even if the one tube needs a slight dimple, i'd use what you got.

I agree. Do a test fit with the old headers and then decide what you need to do. There amy only be a slight modification needed.

You can always use an aftermarket steering pump bracket. I used a set-up from Alan Grove Components. It bolts to the front of the engine in the two bolt holes to the right of the crank. These brackets keep the pump very close to the stock location.

gheatly,
I'm going with the Alan Groves low drivers side mount now, but I thought it was the P/S gearbox that caused the tube Interference fit problems??

I believe it's the steering box, not the pump that causes interference. As above, I'd try them first. The Hooker Super comps fits fine (although close) on mine, but I don't believe they have the diameter you want.

Try a test fit first. I have power steering with a small block and they fit very very close. If it is going to touch then just put a dimple in the pipe. If you are afraid to do it them mark the spot and take the header to your local muffler shop. Have them put them in the pipe bender and make the dimple. I have even seen header pipes actually touching the powering steering box and have never caused a problem. You would think it would rattle or rub a hole in the pipe but it doesn't.

Thanks guy's, I will try them and see how bad I have to beat them up before I opt for the ones that are said to fit..... pdq67

A good exhaust shop can cut and re-route the offending tube(s) for a lot less than the price of a new header. The guy that does my work charges about $40 to cut and re-weld each pipe.
