: What length pushrods do I need ???
Luke805 Jul 17th, 02, 11:29 PM I just purchased a set of 23 degree trick flow heads(TFS-30400001) for my 350 . I have a set of Scorpion 1.5 roller rockers, and they were not listed so I wasn't sure what length pushrods I need. Some of the 1.5s had different length pushrods required then others.I want to purchase a set of hardened pushrods, but want to make sure I get the right length. Please if anyone knows please let me know,i'm trying to get the motor back in.Thanks

Toby Keen Jul 18th, 02, 12:24 AM You can buy an adjustable push rod from many sources including your cam manufacturer or your local speed shop. Install it and adjust to fit, measure it and order that length.
xodus921 Jul 18th, 02, 02:06 AM I called summit...with my cam and heads(also have trickflows) and rocker arm's, They were able to set me up with the right length...Ordered my rockers and pushrod's at the same time though. Becareful with those rockers...Trick flow only recomends a few certain brands that will work properly with their heads....

Luke805 Jul 18th, 02, 03:52 PM The scorpions are basically almost identical to the crane gold,so I am trying to find what length pushrods are run with the crane gold 1.5s
RFrenette Jul 19th, 02, 04:04 AM Does anyone know where I can find the list of rockers that work w/ the TF heads?
I'm currently running:
- Comp Cams Magnum Cams - Grind: 280H, Gross Lift: .480"
- Comp Cams Magnum Pushrods - 5/16", Standard Length
- Comp Cams Magnum Rocker Arms - 1.52 Ratio, 3/8" Stud
Thanks for ANY info!

oger Jul 19th, 02, 08:39 AM There is only one correct way to check pushrod length. Do it after the engine is assembled with an adjustable length pushrod. Everything else is a guess.
BillK Jul 19th, 02, 02:52 PM Luke,
Oger is the only one so far with the correct answer. You cannot guess at pushrod length if you want to get it correct. I would suggest calling trick flow, or maybe looking at thier web site. They used to have a very good "handout" on determining correct pushrod length. Conp Cams also has a very good description of the procedure in thier catalog. There are too many factors that can affect this. Deck height, brand of cam and lifters (yes they do differ), head gasket, rocker arms, etc etc. Get a checking pushrod and do it right.

The "issue" with TFS heads and rocker arms lies with the TWISTED WEDGE heads, not the 23 DEG heads. The twisted wedge head uses a special intake rocker with has a shorter roller to trunion distance than a typical chevy rocker. Comp cams makes part #1307-8 for the 3/8" stud (1.52 ratio) or 1308-8 for the 7/16" stud.
