with my pre-87 350 ci, i have no other option then using roller lifters with a horizontal bar on my roller camshaft.

But those horizontal bars (point where they are connected to the lifters) looks so fragile!

im afraid they will crack or snap when i rev the engine up to, lets say, 6000 rpm some day...

am i over-reacting or is this system just not very reliable??

thanx a lot ppl

Usually it's a broken valve spring, weakened valve springs, bent pushrod or a poly lock that has loosened up that can cause the link bar to break. Over reving can also break a link bar. Roller lifters need to be in contact with the cam at all times. Any time the roller lifter leaves contact with the cam there is added force exerted on the link bar. It's good insurance to use a rev kit on the roller lifters to make sure the lifters stay in contact with the cam.
