Please consider one like; 270/280, 222/230, 114/108, .450"/.460". This may not be what you will actually end up with but it illustrates what I am trying to say... Hope this helps... pdq67 nate Nov 29th, 02, 05:25 PM pdq, when you said LCA, did you mean LSA(lobe sep. angle)? what is the chamber size in that 327? if it is a bigger combustion chamber, you might want to look into a slightly(about 3 deg) longer intake duration. as for what type, i would go with roller. solid or hydraulic roller is a decision you need to make depending on what you do with it. the Crane Cams manual has a very detailed description of their cams and their uses(ex. blower cams, nitro, flat tappet for roller rockers). since it is forced induction, lift wont really need to be any larger than stock without having to underdrive your blower. keep in mind also if you want that high compression, you wont get away with using the cheap 87 octane, but be driving to the strip to fill up. pdq67 Nov 29th, 02, 07:42 PM Nate, I learned it lobe center angle which is what we are talking about. I figure a good blown motor should be in the 8 to 8.5 to 1 CR. range to take good advantage of the forced induction! Therefore the heads and everything else just needs up come up with the CR. I went to Crower to see what they had to offer. And you are right, with blow you don't have to have a lot of lift b/c the pressure makes up for low lift.... pdq67 silveradoforever Nov 30th, 02, 07:07 AM my heads are the 461 casting double hump fulies w/2.02/1.60 valves silveradoforever Nov 30th, 02, 07:11 AM my heads are the 461 casting double hump fulies w/2.02/1.60 valves I think they are 64cc mowrey1999 Dec 1st, 02, 04:30 AM I have built several blown small and big blocks and from my experience I have found that when it comes to cam selection most people go way to big, Remember your trying to build off the low compression presumably around 8 to 1 to 9 to 1.If money isnt a issue a hyd roller cam is fine but the minimul horsepower gain is hard to justify the extra money,If you want something that is trouble free basically I would recommend a Hyd cam and roller valvetrain such as a comp cams blower/Nitrous cam, Go with low numbers by this I mean a lobe seperation of 114 no less than 112 and about 8-10 degrees more on the exhaust lobe than the intake so something no more than ,.462 int and 472 ex . The blower is going to do the work so it doesnt take a lot of lift. A lot of people run the blower and a big roller cam so it sounds good but have mismatched the components by doing this then the performance goes down the drain from what it could be . I have built several small blocks with 8.5 compression air flow research 195 heads the comp cams blower cam around 462 lift and made over 500 horsepower on the dyno. ------------------ silveradoforever Dec 2nd, 02, 05:00 PM thanks guys this should help a lot.
