I'm buildiing a 383 with Air Flow Research heads 76cc chambers with a Edelbrock RPM manifold and a comp cams extreme energy hydrolic roller cam 236 242 duration at .050 and .555 .576 lift for my 69 camaro. I have some porting tools and want to port match the manifold to the heads. How would I do this?

I've never done this meself, mind you, but I'd imagine that you would cut a gasket for the heads, then lay it over the corresponding side of the manifold, and remove the extraneous material. Eh?

Hey
go to www.f-body.org (http://www.f-body.org)
in the list of f-body sites (the middle of the page under the pic-o-the-week) there is a site about home porting.

Pretty good info on the site, worth a look.

Check the parts if you already have them. I bet the intake's ports are slightly smaller than the heads' intake ports. From what I understand, there's not much to gain from port matching if that is the case.

The biggest gains come when the head ports are smaller than the intake. AFR makes a good product, so your ports should be consistently shaped.

I ported my stealth to match my afr 190s and the heads fit the gaskets perfectly... I just scored the gasket lines on the intake intake ports and cleand them up. btw i used the 230/236 .51/.52 cc roller and found it to be a great cam for the street.
