I have a 69 camaro with a muncie 4 speed, my speedo does not work, after investigation i found the steel drive gear in trans. is turning but does not meet up with speedo cable gear, to far back on shaft, how do I go about fixing this. Thanks

Do you mean the steel gear is not in the correct location on the main shaft or do you mean the plastic driven gear isn't contacting the steel gear?

Hopefully, it's just the wrong driven gear (plastic one). Take a look here: http://chevelleengineer.home.comcast.net/~chevelleengineer/speedo.htm
If the drive gear in the trans is in the wrong place, the only practical way is to pull the trans. OK, it can be done in the car, but it's easier to just pull it.

I had it done a few years ago when I changed to 4.10 gears. The tail cone has to come off to replace it. My gear was plastic and went with a steel one from Long Island Corvette Supply. Still working great.
