I have a 383 AFR 210 cc heads, weind team G intake
10.8 comp, holley HP750 carb I am looking for a good solid roller cam... I run a camaro 3350 lbs with driver, powerglide w/5000 stall, 4.56 rear gears.
I used to have brodix -8 pro heads with .602/.625 lift 261/267 @ .050 w/106 lobe center. car ran 11.90 @113
I realize turbo would be in order but glide will have to work for now...
Thanks Dan

It looks like there is a whole lot of e.t. to be gained with tuning and set up alone. I would have expected low 11's with the old set up.
I would say run what you have and see what it does. I would be interested to see what difference the heads alone make.
Any chance you were running out of gear? What was your RPM at the stripe? What was your 60'?
There is definately more to be had out of that combo.

What Greg O said. I think that part of the problem is the PG combined with a 106LSA. The cam needs a bunch more low-end to get it moving against 1.76/4.56 gears. Have you thought about 4.88's or 5.13's? I would save my pennies for a good T350 if I were you.

The reason power was off with the old cam is because of the compression ratio. 10.8:1 is not nearly enough compression for that much cam IMO.
With the AFR 210's if the compression ratio is the same look for a cam with about 250* @ .050 duration intake. I don't think that the 106* LSA is too tight for a 'glide and 5000 converter, but I would keep the cam about 10* smaller than 261/267* @ 050 --- more like 250/256* @ 050.
You could go a little wider on the LSA - like 108* or 110* but IMO who cares about the low end anyway if you are running a 5k converter? The narrower LSA cam will make more power midrange and top-end at the expense of low end TQ and driveability.
Here's one just as a reference - Comp #288AR-6, 288/296 advertised duration, 252/258* duration @ .050, .630 lift, 106* LSA. This cam should make real good TQ right at your stall speed.

What is the cranking compression? Also what is the brand and part number of the current cam??
