: Trunk divider- which is peanut butter side up?

I got a trunk divider for my 69, it didn't have one when I got it. I'm going to take my 50/50 guess and assume the Jute side faces the seat and the cardboard faces the trunk. Is this correct?

NEWS FLASH..... Just figured it out. After trying something as simple as trying to put it in jute towards the trunk... It doesn't fit that way. The holes for the seat are slightly offset, so It will only go in with jute faceing the seat. I don't know if the factory screwed it up or what, but it will only go in the one way? I got mine from Rick's, has anybody else run into this? From all the responses for jute facing the trunk I'm starting to think I should return it....

I have seen those trunk dividers with jute padding. My 69 has the original trunk divider (its falling apart and really needs to be replaced). It does not have any padding on it, just the 1/8 inch thick cardboard. There is no evidence of anything being glued to it. As far as putting the jute sound deadener in, I think it should be installed on the side where noise originates, or the trunk side. That way, it absorbs the sound.

I agree. The jute should face the trunk.

My 78 has the jute facing the trunk (original).

Just checked my car - the jute is on the trunk side as well.

Clill - yes what? Yes to Shawn's assumption that the jute faces the seat or everyone else's advice that it faces the trunk?

I guess my second post didn't post. I have a Feb 69 Norwood car with 22000 miles and a Oct. 68 built LA car with 31000 miles and neither have Jute backing. One side appears to be black and it faces the trunk on both cars.
