No, no...they are performance meters.

Ah, so now I see how to get a lot of posts. Don't know which one is better but either would be really cool! Although spending $200+ on something that actually doesn't improve the performance of your car is kind of a bummer. $250 would almost buy my heads again ;)

I don't know much about the AP-22, but I do have a GTECH pro comp, and I like it a lot. It's pretty accurate too, but you have to enter the vehicles weight though. The more accurate you are on the weight the more accurate it will be.

I weighed my car at the track before I ran, and I ran the GTECH against the track's lights. It was off by 3/100ths on the first pass! (13.60 vs. 13.57). I thought it was a fluke, so I weighed the car again, to account for fuel consumption. I ran it again and it was only 2/100ths off.

I've had good experiences with mine, I have the software for my PC, and the HP and Torque curves really told me something was wrong with my car above 4500rpm. I doubt the HP and Torque curves are that accurate, I've never had my car dyno'd so I don't know. It helps with tuning and I've eliminated the "seat of the pants" adjustments that I use to rely on.

It's a good piece, I just downloaded the new version (3.0.2) but I haven't tried it yet. It's suppose to be more accurate. Yes I am a nerd! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Where's the bummer in that? You can test newly installed components, different shift points, lateral g-forces, etc. The only bummer I see is that they may increase your chances for receiving wreckless driving or drag racing violations.

Or speed exhibition, vehicular manslaughter, etc. How much does that add to the price?

the gtech pro comp is a very very nice unit, well engineered and very accurate, yes even the hp if you understand what it is measureing and how it does it. And just because you have one doesn't mean you have to drive illegal speeds. I recently used mine to help me fine tune my 60fts. I was having trouble launching my IRS and with practice I was able to improve my 60fts by nearly 10% graemlins/thumbsup.gif , and unfortunately a test-n-tune at a local drag strip isn't an option, not all of us are so close to sacramento and sears point ;)

on the green graph I bogged the engine, on the red graph I spun and the rear started hoppipng like a bunny rabbit and the black was my best one with just a single chirp-chirp.

anyways, take it for what its worth, if you have the cash it is well worth it.
